Downloading:  This page isn't set up for streaming, because the main idea isn't to let you play tunes; it's to help you download and save them so you can create taped ceremonial sequences from them.  IE (or NS) 4 & 5 users:  Right-click RM or MP3, select save target as (or save file as), and pick your destination directory.  NS 3 users:  Due to some sort of bug, NS 3 users usually get only a screen full of garbage when trying to download RM files. To get around this, we've ZIPped our RM files (mostly to change the file name; ZIPping doesn't save much download time on RM files). So click on ZIP to download a ZIPped RM file (remember, you'll need to unZIP these files before you can work with them).  When all else fails:  If you have a player without a save feature, and it insists on popping up, grabbing hold of the files, and playing them, let the tunes play through to the end (don't do anything else with your computer while they're playing), then look for them in C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files. From there you can check that they're OK, then move or copy them to your preferred work directory.

bullet  The correct ceremonial order of service songs is: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, ref. DoDD 1005.8, 31 Oct 77. We offer a continuous medley of service songs at Patriotic Music Online if you don't mind the songs being out of order.

bullet  Running times are only approximate! On the original CD, dead time was included at the ends of marches to allow them to be played end-to-end. Due to the lag after a player's "play" button is pressed (even when the selection is loaded), this doesn't work with computer playback, so we trimmed much of the dead time from our RM files (there's about half a second of dead time at both ends of our MP3 files). See notes on the perils of depending on dead time on the "How to record" page.

bullet  The Army Goes Rolling Along is the trio section of The Caisson Song, based upon The US Field Artillery March by E.L. Gruber;  Bugle calls were taken from The Field Musician's Manual by Capt. Daniel J. Canty, arr. Darcy.

bullet  Crown Imperial is a wonderful graduation processional that many (including this band, which played it for a graduation ceremony at Christopher Newport University) prefer to "Pomp and Circumstance" (which we haven't recorded).

bullet  Amazing Grace, played on bagpipes, has become a standard memorial honor for US police and fire departments. A very effective sequence can be created by playing Echo Taps (#15 above) followed by Amazing Grace. This haunting, beautiful version comes to this site courtesy of the Pipe Band and the Concert Band of the Band of the US Air Force Reserve (their recording of "Semper Fidelis" is also here).
